2004's
PDN Photo Annual presents the year's most outstanding images from photographers,
magazines and agencies that put a human face on the times we live in. The
annual highlights the best photography of the year in eight catagories. The
winners were chosen by a prestigious jury of photo editors, gallery owners,
art directors and photo academics from across the country.
The 2004 Photo Annual features an extensive portfolio of award-winning pieces and an editorial recap of the most important stories of the year. The editors reexamine current visual trends, profile the movers and shakers in the industry and analyze the impact of specific technologies in the field. The annual is not only an essential guide for creatives looking for the hottest talent and newest trends, it will also serve as a lasting record of our industry's achievements over the past year.
As always, we are grateful to our sponsors Canon, Epson, Fujifilm, Nikon and Olympus whose continued generous support makes it possible to honor all this incredible work and put this issue together. We also want to thank the judges for championing photography in their various fields of expertise. Most importantly, we want to commend the photographers and creatives who continue to make the world a smart, humorous, incisive and more engaging place, through their unique vision and the power of their photography.
